This is an exciting opportunity to join team Hewitt in a Station Hand position.
This opportunity is perfect for an individual seeking a career in a challenging yet rewarding environment, working amongst a highly professional, industry leading team. The role will be based at Alpha Station which is located in Central Queensland approximately 40km south of the town of Alpha. Situated in the heart of brigalow and buffel country, Alpha Station is an ideal finishing property with a carrying capacity of around 5,800 head over approximately 52,600 acres. This role offers a great opportunity for travel as you would also be working on our Oakwood property at Augathella, as well as agistment properties at Springsure, Quilpie, Birdsville and Longreach. As a part of the operation, we run around 16,000 head across all of these properties.
The role presents the opportunity to live on-site and immerse yourself in the business. Reporting directly to Station Management, you will be a strong communicator, a driven and committed team player who is focused on progressing their career.
What can you expect day-to-day?
- General farm duties & maintenance.
- Operation of modern farming machinery.
- Stock work.
- Fencing & stock water maintenance.
Qualifications:
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Passion, enthusiasm & a willingness to learn and grow.
- Ability to communicate & work well in a small team and also independently.
- Excellent problem solving & time management skills.
- Experience with farm machinery including tractors & implements.
- Experience handling livestock.
- Experience in welding (advantageous).
