Hewitt Marks Significant Sustainability Milestones in 2025
Hewitt is proud to release its 2025 Sustainability Report, showcasing the progress made across people and operations, supply chain and communities as the business continues to pursue its vision of feeding the world with a system that lasts forever.
Employee Commitment: 56% Reduction in Workplace Injuries
The health, safety and wellbeing of Team Hewitt remained a key focus throughout 2025. Workplace safety performance reached its strongest result in five years, with recorded workplace injuries reducing by more than 50 per cent compared to the previous year.
Hewitt also continued investing in leadership development, employee training and workforce capability, strengthening teams across Australia, Asia Pacific and the Americas while developing new programs to support employee growth and long-term career pathways.
Community Support and Development: More Than $500,000 Invested in Regional Initiatives
Hewitt’s commitment to regional and rural Australia continued through significant investment in community organisations, local events and charitable partnerships.
More than $500,000 was invested annually into community initiatives, including support for sporting clubs, rural education programs, regional events and community infrastructure projects. The business also continued its five-year partnership with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, committing $750,000 to support essential services across Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory.
Sustainable Agriculture: 2 Million Hectares Assessed Through Food for the Future
During 2025, Hewitt continued expanding its Food for the Future program, one of Australia’s most comprehensive sustainability initiatives focused on understanding the relationship between carbon, biodiversity, productivity and land management.
The program has now assessed more than two million hectares across Australian livestock production systems, creating a robust baseline to guide future environmental improvements and support sustainable food production.
Climate Action: 7.6% Reduction in Operational Emissions
Hewitt achieved a 7.6 per cent reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared to its 2022 baseline.
This progress has been supported through investments in livestock genetics, pasture improvement, regenerative farming practices and operational efficiencies designed to improve productivity while reducing emissions intensity across the business.
Soil Health and Biodiversity: 6,200 Hectares Established with Perennial Legumes
Healthy landscapes remain central to Hewitt’s long-term sustainability strategy.
During 2025, more than 6,200 hectares were established with deep-rooted perennial legumes, improving soil function, supporting biodiversity and enhancing livestock productivity. Research partnerships and natural capital assessments across the portfolio also
strengthened understanding of soil health, ecosystem resilience and long-term land stewardship.
Animal Welfare and Product Integrity: More Than 20 Million Hectares Certified Regenerative Organic
Hewitt maintained its commitment to some of the world’s highest independently audited animal welfare and production standards.
The business continued to operate under recognised certifications including Organic, Global Animal Partnership (GAP) and Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC), providing customers with confidence in the traceability, welfare standards and sustainability credentials of Hewitt products.
Sustainable Packaging: 70% Reduction in Plastic Packaging Since 2021
Hewitt continued making significant progress in reducing packaging impacts across its branded retail products.
Since 2021, total plastic usage has been reduced by more than 70 per cent, while the overall packaging footprint has fallen by more than one-third. The transition to more sustainable and recyclable packaging formats remains a key focus as the business works to reduce waste across its value chain.
Building a Sustainable Future: Stewarding 2.4 Million Hectares Across Australia
Operating across approximately 2.4 million hectares and an expanding international supply chain, Hewitt remains focused on delivering positive outcomes for people, animals, communities and the environment.
The achievements outlined in the 2025 Sustainability Report reflect the company’s continued investment in sustainable agriculture, responsible food production and long-term stewardship for future generations.
