It has been a few big weeks in the saddle, with Hewitt riders celebrating strong results across both the campdraft circuit and horse events. From early starts in the yards to long days in the arena, our teams have put their horsemanship, cattle sense and practical ability on show, turning station skills into standout performances.
Among the highlights was the Mt Chapple Campdraft at Narwietooma, Northern Territory – a weekend that captured exactly what station life is about, and a community that turned up ready to lend a hand.
Set against the vast Central Australian backdrop, Mt Chapple brought together competitors, volunteers, families and friends for a few big days of horsemanship, cattle work and country connection.
But the action did not stop there.
A massive congratulations also goes to the Narwietooma and Ambalindum crews at the Harts Range Campdraft, where riders put on some huge runs to gather a swag of ribbons across the program.
Many of the horses stepping into the arena were station horses, alongside personal horses, showing their class after miles of mustering and long days working cattle across big country.
Campdrafting is one of the clearest links between the arena and everyday station work. The timing, patience and understanding between horse, rider and animal are the same skills used when crews are mustering, drafting, moving cattle through yards and working across big country.
Among those taking home trophies in the past couple of weeks was Katelyn Betts, Alpha Station Queensland, who came first in the encouragement run at Barcaldine campdraft.
And flying the flag in NSW was Emma Crowther, Bylong Station NSW, who placed second in Australian National Working Equitation NSW state championships. She will now go onto compete at Nationals in Sydney in November.
For Hewitt, seeing team members take part in these events is a proud reminder of the talent and commitment within our ranks. It also reflects the strong connection our people have to rural communities, where weekends like these are built on teamwork, resourcefulness and a genuine love for agriculture.
A huge congratulations to everyone who competed, helped behind the scenes or supported from the sidelines.
